Breaking News: Tinubu Appoints new Director-General of Budget Office
In a move aimed at bolstering fiscal management and promoting national development, President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr. Tanimu Yakubu as the new Director-General of the Budget Office of the Federation. This decision comes following the conclusion of Mr. Ben Akabueze's tenure in the role.
A statement from presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, highlighted Mr. Yakubu's extensive experience in the economic sector. Prior to his new appointment, he served as the Chief Economic Adviser to a former President between 2007 and 2010 and held key roles such as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria from 2003 to 2007 and Commissioner of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning in Katsina State from 1999 to 2003.
Mr. Yakubu comes well-equipped for his new responsibilities, holding a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from Wagner College, Staten Island, New York, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the same institution.
President Tinubu expressed gratitude towards the outgoing Director-General, Mr. Ben Akabueze, for his service and extended well wishes for his future pursuits. He expressed confidence in Mr. Yakubu's capacity to advance the Budget Office's functions by promoting fiscal sustainability, transparency, and accountability in public finance management for the betterment of the nation.
