Breaking News: There is Peace in Rivers State – Fubara Declares Amidst Statewide Tension
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has stepped forward to reassure the public of the state’s prevailing peace amid growing speculations of widespread crisis.

During an inspection of the Omodu-Eberi-Omuma Road in Omuma Local Government Area on Thursday, Governor Fubara highlighted that the state continues to operate smoothly, with residents conducting their daily activities without any hindrance.
Addressing concerns at Egbelu Junction, the governor emphasized that the purpose of his inspection was to dispel misconceptions about the state's status. Additionally, Governor Fubara announced plans to extend the road project to link with neighbouring Abia State, showcasing the state's commitment to ongoing development.

The governor’s assurance comes at a critical time, with tensions escalating between supporters of Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who now serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. The recent conflict has led to unfortunate fatalities and marks the latest chapter in a prolonged disagreement between the two prominent political figures.

The roots of this crisis can be traced back to last year, with incidents such as the bombing of the state House of Assembly and an attempted impeachment of Governor Fubara by lawmakers aligned with Wike. The current clash was triggered following the expiration of the three-year tenure of 23 local government chairmen on Monday.
In response to this, Governor Fubara appointed caretaker chairmen who were officially sworn in on Wednesday. Despite the political turbulence, the governor remains steadfast in assuring the public of the state's enduring tranquility and the steady continuation of government operations.
